    What is the webinar about?

    Finland was the first country in the world to serve free school meals. In South Africa, more than 9 million learners get a plate of food at school each day. Join us for a discussion with some of Finland and South Africa's top school food and nutritional experts about the impact of these programmes on children, families and even the economy in these two countries.

    We have a stellar line-up of top speakers and panelists from both Finland and South Africa that will give us background and discuss the successes and lessons learnt from food programmes in Finnish and South African schools.

      Marjaana Manninen

      Finnish National Agency for Education

      Marjaana Manninen is the Co-Author of School Meals for All - School Feeding programme: investment in effective learning - Case Finland. She is Counsellor of Education at the Finnish National Agency for Education.



      Ms Neo Sediti

      South African Department of Basic Education

      MS NEO SEDITI is the Director: National School Nutrition Programme (NSNP) at the Department of Basic Education. She is an Executive MBA graduate with a professional background in Social Work.

      She oversees the management of the R7 billion Conditional Grant fund which is disbursed to 9 Provincial Education Departments annually. She has honed her skills in nutrition matters, business planning processes and is passionate about serving communities especially children with vulnerabilities.


      Dr. Heather Legodi

      Dept of Human Nutrition, University of Pretoria

      Dr Heather Legodi is the Head of Department and Senior Lecturer at the University of Pretoria's Dept of Human Nutrition. She works in collaboration with Future Africa Research.



      Dr. Maijaliisa Erkkola

      University of Helsinki

      Dr Maijaliisa Erkkola is a Finnish Researcher and Adjunct Professor and University lecturer at the University of Helsinki.




      Dr Alison Misselhorn

      The Lunchbox Fund 

      Dr Alison Misselhorn is Director of Fundraising and Research at the Lunchbox Fund and has a PhD in Food Security and Environmental Science.

      Maija Soljanlahti

      Finnish civil society project (Martat) 

      Maija Soljanlahti is the Development Manager for food and nutrition at the Martha Organisation.
